Stressed About Fuel
EconomyIt is really easy to
worry about the price of fuel going up by, say, 5 cents per
Litre, but what does that mean to your driving costs and how
will it affect your driving choices?
Forget MPG or L/100 km! The number
that really counts is what it costs to drive per mile or
kilometre. Take what it costs to fill your tank and divide it
by the distance you drove. For example,if it cost
$65.00 to fill your tank after
driving 500 km since your last fill then your driving
cost is $0.13/km. now put this in relevant terms. If you
drive 50 kms round trip to work every day, that means it
cost you cost $6.50 to go to work. Putting a real cost on
the distance you drive will help you make informed
choices about places you go.
How about those vacation plans? If you
drive 1,500 km at $0.13/km, your vacation fuel cost will be
$195.00. If fuel was $.020/ Litre cheaper, it would mean a
difference of only $30.00 for your vacation.
The price of fuel has to change $0.10
/litre to increase your cost by $0.01/Km. Yes, fuel is
expensive. Get used to it and make better choices.
